Me with my first camera
I always wanted to start a blog, but never did due to a combination of not knowing how/too lazy/fear of nothing to write about. But then I realised it would be the perfect way for me to keep in touch while I was in India (read about it here) and for people to see what I was up to over there. So I planned to start one just before I left. But the more I thought about it, the more ideas I had for a blog. The idea of a blog just for the hell of it, really interested me. Then I thought, “Carla, you take all these photos and then do nothing with them”. And my idea for the blog was born. A way to finally show people my photos and share what they mean to me. And almost instantly a famous quote popped into my head “A picture speaks a thousand words”, and the rest is history my friends. Here is what I wrote on my first post:“Who originally said “a picture speaks a thousand words”? Whoever they were, they nailed it. I have been brought up in a family, where I’m constantly surrounded by photos – thanks to my mum, and I have inherited this love from her. I’m constantly taking photos wherever I go. They have the power to make us really look at something and appreciate it, to tell stories and remind us of happy times and to surround us by the things and the people we love. My life would be empty without photos. I’m always snapping pics of the people around me and my room is filled with the memories brought to life by them. It is my love of photos and everything that comes with them, that has inspired me to start a blog, to tell my stories and write about the things I love. Because there is no better way than to say something than through a photo.”
