Amritsar

After Delhi, we headed north to Amritsar. Apart from the couple of major tourist sights, it was a pretty average place. But the sights were amazing. First we visited the Mata Temple, which was by far the coolest temple I have seen yet. It was set out like a giant maze running through room after room, filled with shrines and statues. It also had small caves we had to crawl through, and water to walk through. Next we saw the famous Golden Temple, which is the holiest Sikh shrine in the world. It was beautiful, but very crowded. At the temple, we ate with all the pilgrims in a giant dining hall - which was almost more exciting than the temple itself. They produce 60,000 - 80,000 meals a day! In the evening we drove out to the India-Pakistan boarder for the 'gate closing' ceremony. They basically close the gates between the two countries for the night, and the guards put on a bit of a show as they do, it was all good fun.
See you in Rishikesh!

Gorgeous pictures, as always! You are definitely not lacking beautiful things to photograph! You have a real eye for composing the shot, too. That's something I really need to work on!
